On Saturday, November 3, Liberty Center faced Miami East for our first playoff game of the season. With Miami East record being 8-2 and Liberty’s being 9-1 the football team knew it was going to be a good game. What we didn’t know was how much of a good and exciting game it was! With being tied 14-14 at halftime and losing the senior QB Jarrett Krugh to a broken ankle late in the first quarter, our boys knew they needed to end with a bang. Sophomore Camden Krugh filled the shoes of his big brother as QB for the remainder of the game and did and excellent job. He was able to get that ball were it needed to be and when it needed to be there. Liberty had some other great plays including CJ Spradlin getting an interception from the Miami East Vikings and running it.
Now at fourth quarter is when things got really tense. With a score of 21-21, Orry Killam started with a fake punt, getting the Tigers to their first down. Then Zach Bowers’ and Caleb Carpenter’s rushing yards towards the end zone gave us the perfect opportunity to score. With three seconds left on the clock, the team set up for a field goal attempt. Orry went to kick the ball and scored, making the Tigers win the game with the score 24-21!
