On Saturday, October 17, 2018, the Liberty Center Lady Tigers played their first sectional tournament game. The Tigers played a fierce game against an NWOAL team, the Delta Panthers. The Lady Tigers played against Delta earlier in the year as their first game of the season. Liberty Center had a tremendous performance which led them to a 6-0 victory. The Lady Tigers are expecting to go far into tournaments this year. Winning the first NWOAL title was not enough for these Tigers, they want to make it to the state final soccer game.

Going into the game, the Tigers were expecting another victory. They hoped to use the game as practice, to get them ready for their harder games that are to come. They predicted Delta to be a better team than they saw at the beginning of the season. The Tigers felt they have come a long way since their first game of the season, and believe Delta has too. The Lady Tigers were not expecting the game to be a pushover, but they also didn’t think it was going to be one of their most challenging games.

As the whistle blew and the game began, the Tigers were ready. They were determined to fight, and they were determined to win. Within the first few minutes, the first Lady Tigers goal  was scored. After the first goal, the Tigers continued to score one after another. Not only was the offense on a roll with finding the back of the net, the Tiger defense was unstoppable as well. The defensive line and goalie Riley Miller worked together to keep the game a shutout. The final score of the game ended up being 8-0.

The Lady Tigers were pleased with the outcome of their performance. The girls have created history this year, and they are still in the making. After winning the first NWOAL league title, they have now become sectional champions. The girls are not finished with creating their legacy. The hard work and dedication between the girls will bring them to the state finals.

The Liberty Center Lady Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday, October 24, 2018. The Tigers will be playing against Swanton, as both teams fight to move forward into the district finals. The game will be located at Napoleon High School. The kickoff will begin at 5 o’clock p.m. Make sure everyone comes out and supports the Lady Tigers as they compete this Wednesday.
