This week, the boys and girls soccer programs have done remarkably well with three total shutouts between two boys games and one girls game. On September 10, the Liberty Center Tigers boys soccer team played Woodward at the Tigers’ home field. They beat the Polar Bears 19-1. Goals were scored by Jacob Hoffman, Tanner Reimund (2), Zach Skeens (3), Parker Strauss (2), Alex Starkey, Asa Killam, Adam Wells (3), Zeb Hoffman, Pablo Barahona, Cameren Miller, Zach Miller and Isaiah Nonenmacher. The varsity goalie, Orry Killam, had only one shot on him and he saved it. Woodward player, Gionnie Ewing, scored the only Polar Bear on one of the backup goalies. The boys are currently 4-0-0 overall after this game.
On September 11, the boys soccer team also played Wauseon at Wauseon’s home field. They conquered the Indians beating them 5-0 in this league showdown. Goals were scored by Parker Strauss, Weston Kundo, Tanner Reimund, Alex Starkey and Pablo Barahona. Once again, Orry Killam only had to worry about one shot and he saved it! This win makes the Tigers 3-0-0 in the league and 5-0-0 overall.
On September 11, the girls soccer team played Otsego at the Tigers home field at Widewater. They beat the Knights 18-0. Goals were scored by Constance Roell, Lydia Long, Lydia Ball, Mallory Vollmar, Kendall Bostlemen, Cassidy Chappa (5), Sam Engler (3), Aubree Hollenbaugh (2), Carly Roth and Victoria Ellinwood (2). The defensive line held together so well that the varsity keeper, Riley Miller, only had one shot on her that she saved. The girl’s team overall has been doing very well so far this season. They have played five games and are 4-0-1, while only allowing in one goal the entire season. The Lady Tigers are hoping to win leagues this year, as they are currently 2-0-0 in the league, and they are well on their way to doing so!
