This week, your very own Liberty Center Tigers open league play, starting off the season 3-0. The Tigers have successfully outscored opponents 100-16 in the first 3 games. Caleb Carpenter is the workhorse for the Tigers, leading the team with 241 yards on 41 carries and 5 touchdowns. The team started the season by rolling the Tinora Rams 35-3 at Tiger Stadium. The week after, the Tigers had more trouble with Napoleon, but still won 21-0. Last week, the Tigers traveled to Woodward High School to play the Polar Bears in the last non-league game of the year. At the end of the first quarter, Liberty found themselves down 7-3, then outscored the Polar Bears 41-6 in the next 3 quarters to win the contest 44-13.
The Evergreen Vikings travel to Liberty Center this week, starting the season off 2-1. The Vikings are outscoring opponents 123-37 in the first 3 games. Their only loss was against Otsego week 1 by a score of 37-21. Week 2, Evergreen found what they’ve been searching for, winning against Montpelier 48-0. Last week, The Vikings destroyed Ottawa Hills 54-0 and look to continue the momentum. Hunter Van Wert, the Vikings offensive threat, leads the league in rushing with 350 yards on 32 carries with 5 touchdowns. This Friday will be a good game to watch, so make sure you find your way to Tiger Stadium at 7pm. Hope to see you all there!
