As stated in the previous article about the OMEA Competition, the highest rating that a group can receive on a section is 1, and the lowest is 5. Each song performed gets their own rating, as well as one round of sight-reading. Sight reading is where the group is handed a piece of music and they have to sing it correctly in a matter of a few minutes.
The high school band competed on Friday, 9 March and got 3-ratings. Both the A Capella Choir and the Mixed group competed on Saturday and both got all-2’s. Unfortunately, none of our school’s musical groups will be heading to state competition, although last year’s Chamber Choir got a perfect score at both District and State competition.
