On February 28, Liberty Center is hosted its Red Cross Blood Drive. Liberty Center hosts two or three blood drives a year in hopes to get more blood that way. In an attempt to get more participants for donating blood, Ms. Mericle does a contest where the person who recruits the most people to donate blood gets a gift card to a restaurant. Last year Stephen Arnette and Davina Fredrick where the co-winners of the gift card.
The qualifications for donating blood varies a lot, here are some qualifications: You must weigh at least 110 pounds. You have to be 16, at age 16 you need parental consent and you aren’t allowed to donate platelets. At age 17 you are allowed to donate blood and platelets without parental consent. The most needed blood type is O positive because it is the most common blood type in the world, but O negative is also in high demand because it is known as the universal blood type.
