On early Tuesday morning, a 7.9 earthquake was recorded 170 southeast off of a small island near Alaska. The earthquake occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. The shaking went on for about a minute and a half according to 13abc news. After the earthquake, there was a tsunami warning for the west coast states including  Washington, Oregon, California and Hawaii. Citizens from these states went to high ground for safety, others went to schools to prepare for the tsunami. Japan was also warned, but they never saw any threat of the waves reaching them. The island that recorded the earthquake, Kodiak, was expected to see the waves 90 minutes after the earthquake. The waves never came which would cancel the other threats that dangered the coast. Fortunately, there were no reports of damage in Alaska
