The Cleveland Indians have gone on an amazing win streak over the past three weeks. On September 14th the Indians extended the streak to 21 games. This pushed them just over the AL record of 20 set by the Athletics. The win streak started on August 24th against the Boston Red Sox and the last game they have won was against the Detroit Tigers. Over the streak, the Indians have swept the Royals, the Yankees, the White Sox, and the Orioles. They have also swept the Tigers twice.
The way the Indians have been able to keep the streak alive is by playing team baseball according to mlb.com. Whenever someone is having a bad night someone else will step up to the plate and make a play for the Indians. The starting pitching and bullpen pitching have also been doing very well. With Jason Kipnis, Michael Brantley, and now Bradley Zimmer all being out, guys like Giovanny Urshela, Erik Gonzales, and Greg Allen will now fill big roles for the team. The Indians are now five games away from tying the record and will face the Kansas City Royals in a four game series next.
