The NFL season started yesterday With the New England Patriots playing the Kansas City Chiefs with the Chiefs taking the game 42-27. As the rest of the NFL prepares for week one, here are my NFL predictions heading into the season.

The American Football Conference

East Division:

It would be hard to pick against the reigning Super Bowl champs, especially, with their new offseason acquisitions and with Tom Brady still at the helm of the offense. With these facts in mind, I’ve got the Patriots winning another division title with the Miami Dolphins following right behind them. The Miami Dolphins were poised to have one of the best offenses until Ryan Tannehill went done during training camp with a season ending injury. Now with former Chicago Bears Quarterback Jay Cutler leading the offense, I don’t see them knocking off the Patriots for the top spot, but potentially make a playoff appearance in the wildcard spot. I have the Bills finishing above the New York Jets for third in the division though both teams are in obvious rebuild mode.

North Division:

In the North, I’ve got the Cincinnati Bengals winning the division because their team is a little more solid on both sides of the ball then the other teams in the division right now. However, I don’t see the Bengals making it past the first round of the playoffs. In second place, I see the Steelers taking the spot because of their high power offense, but their defense isn’t anything spectacular. I have the Baltimore Ravens going in third place and the browns at the least doubling their win total from last year, but not a total break out season yet.

South Division:

I’ve got the Tennessee Titans winning the South. Even though most would believe the Colts will win, I just don’t see the Colts getting it done, and the Houston Texans haven’t solved their problems on offense. The Jaguars are an interesting team but still lack an answer at the quarterback position to do any serious damage in the South division.

West Division:

I see the Oakland Raiders winning the division again this year and barring another injury to David Carr, they could be a dangerous team in the playoffs. I see the Chiefs getting in the other wild card spot and potentially making a decent run in the playoffs as well. As for the Chargers and Broncos the teams are trying to cling to the past players from their former teams and I just don’t see that happening.

The National Football Conference

West Division:

I predict the Seattle Seahawks winning the division and the Arizona Cardinals following right behind them making a wild card game appearance. The 49ers And the Rams are in rebuild mode and don’t have the weapons on both sides of the ball to really compete.

North Division:

I have the Packers winning the division easily as the other 3 teams in the division. I see the Lions, Vikings and the Bears taking steps in the wrong direction.

South Division:

I see the Tampa Bay Buccaneers making their run in the division this year with big additions to the team in the offseason. I also see the Carolina Panthers bouncing back after a down season even filling the other wild card spot. The Falcons will relapse after their Super Bowl blunder. I don’t see the Saints doing anything special with their team losing Cooks at WR.

East Division:

I have the Eagles winning the division with the NY Giants right behind them. The Dallas Cowboys will see a back to reality moment out of their team this year. The Washington Redskins have too much internal problems to even consider a solid season.
