In their final game of the season, LC Tigers defeat Cardinal Stritch 9-5. The game started off quite rocky for the Tigers, the end of the 4th inning score was 5-1, favoring the Cardinals.
In the bottom of the 1st, Dunsmore got on base after an error by Krugh. He advanced to second on the next hit, and then to third after Johnson got on first after an error by Everson. Flowes then hit both Dunsmore and Johnson home with a double down the third base line.
After 2 scoreless innings, in the top of the 4th, the Tigers got their first run in. Krugh had hit a single, followed by a single by Cramer. Sonnenberg then had a sacrifice bunt and advanced them to second and third, followed by Bachman hitting a sac fly to right, allowing Krugh to tag up and score.
The Cardinals followed up with a big inning in the bottom half. The inning started off with a single to right field by Johnson, who stole second on a passed ball. Miazgowicz then was walked. Following a hit by Staler, an LC error allowed Johnson to score and put Miazgowicz on third, and Staler on second. Payoff then hit a ball to Krugh, who dove to stop the ball, which led to a short throw to first, allowing Miazgowicz and Staler to score, and Payoff to second.
The Tigers, down 5-1, decided to ramp things up in the 5th inning. After Weaver and Everson were walked, Sonnenberg hit a single, loading up the bases. Krugh then hit the ball to Payoff, who missed the ball, allowing Krugh on third and Weaver, Everson, and Sonnenberg to all score. Cramer then had a base hit, scoring Sonnenberg and tying the game. Like then had a base hit, advancing him to second, and then Cramer was advanced to third and Like to second when Bachman was walked. After a sac fly by Hoffman, Cramer scored, putting the Tigers ahead 6-5.
The Tigers finished things up in the 7th. It started off with Cramer being walked, then getting thrown out on a fielder’s choice by Bachman, allowing Bachman on first. Hoffman and Weaver then followed up with base hits, loading the bases. Frankforther, subbing for Upell, was then hit by a pitch, scoring Bachman and advancing Hoffman and Weaver. A double by Everson then scored Hoffman and Weaver, putting the game at 9-5. In the bottom of the 7th, Cardinal Stritch loaded the bases, but Bachman struck out the final batter, securing the Varsity’s last game as a win.
