There is currently a lot of road work happening on 109. They initially stripped the pavement from Shamrock, the gas station on the north side of town, going all the way to Denny’s, then going west on Maple to Damascus, where it heads south towards the cemetery. The first repairs were done to the tracks next to the library. They removed the tracks and have repaved it. They are also fixing potholes in the school driveway. The main reason for this road work is the potholes. The potholes have been getting really bad, especially on the turn in front of Circle K. Some tips for driving during this road work is to plan a detour before driving and to be careful of the manhole covers that stick out of the roads.
