Twenty-six juniors and seniors taking Spanish III and eight adult chaperones are taking a trip to Puerto Rico. The trip will take place from April 5-11. While the students are there, they will learn about Hispanic culture. The students will also learn about the life and culture of the people, and speak and interact with the natives.
To help cover the expenses of the trip, Señora Soto, the students, and their parents are having fundraisers. Earlier this year they sold boxes of cookie dough and held a daddy-daughter dance. Right now, there are multiple fundraisers going on for the trip. On Friday mornings before school, they will be selling breakfast burritos. The burritos cost $2 each or 3 for $5. They will also be selling tacos and walking tacos at the home boys basketball game on February 3 and February 24. On Sunday, February 19, the parents will be holding a reverse raffle. The reverse raffle will be held at the Delta Legion and will include a Mexican dinner. The grand prize is $1500, along with a 40’ TV, and many other prizes. Tickets for the raffle are being sold for $50. Señora Soto, the students, and their parents would like to thank the school, community, and anyone who has helped make this fundraising a success and for supporting the opportunity for the students to travel and experience new cultures.
