On Saturday, October 29, the Liberty Center Tigers cross country teams traveled to Tiffin, Ohio to compete in the Regional Championships. Twenty-two teams, plus the individuals who made it out of Districts, competed in the Division III race for both the girls and boys. Only the top seven teams and top 28 individuals would qualify for the State Championships. The girls team placed seventh and the boys placed third. Both teams will be competing at State! Cameron Stark and Kyle Rauch both made it out as individuals.
The Tigers will be competing at the OHSAA Cross Country State Championships on Saturday, November 5. This will be the girls’ eighth and the boys’ fourth consecutive appearances at the state meet. Running for the girls will be seniors Emma Babcock, Cheryl Davenport, Maddy Roseman, and Katie Clawson, sophomore Maddie Atkinson, and freshmen Kalen Rauch, Maddie Reckner, and alternate Bailey Johnson. Running for the boys will be seniors Jakob Hogrefe, Tom McGilvery, and Logen McCullough, juniors Cameron Stark and Tanner Rauch, sophomore Kyle Rauch, and freshman Chris Miles with alternate Ethan Gutierrez.
The entire school had a send off for the cross country team on Friday morning. Following the send off, the team departed for Hebron, Ohio. They will be practicing on the course Friday afternoon and eating dinner together in the evening. There will be a large tailgate starting early on Saturday morning. The boys team will be racing at 11:00 am and the girls will be racing at 1:30 pm at National Trail Raceway.
